Sketch of President Barack Obama
Ruth Soller, Denver Metro area artist completes worldwide artist's sketchbook project with sketches of President Barack and Mrs. Michelle Obama on this historic innauguration day. Art House Cooperative Gallery of downtown Atlanta, Georgia is sponsoring Sketchbook Project, in which 3000 artists are filling sketchbooks with their art and returning the books to Art House Gallery. Then Art House is sending the sketchbooks on a nine venue tour to galleries and museums across the U.S. The goal of the traveling exhibition is to encourage anyone to create artwork and to build a collective of sketchbooks made by artists from all over the world. Art House is all about community. They want to bring artists together and give everyone a chance to show in museums and galleries around the country. The theme of the show is "everyone we know". Soller has filled her book with sketches of everyone she knows or would like to know. She accomplished this by both live sketching and sketching from photos.
